A typical night out in Lisbon might resemble the following…Meet friends for a cool drink after dark (say about 9pm at the earliest, the locals start late in Lisbon) at a chilled terrace café in Chiado. After your aperitif head over to Baixa, where you’ll find some top notch seafood restaurants – why not try the locally caught “Bacalhau à Bras” (grilled cod) washed down with a crisp “Douro”white wine? Then it’s time for some serious bar-hopping in the Bairro Alto. There are enough places to keep you busy till around 2am when the clubs open. You might want to check out Belém’s pulsating techno scene, or enjoy laid back samba or African rhythms with a friendly, cosmopolitan crowd? If all this sounds too hectic, there are always the Fado bars, still going strong in Lisbon and popular with locals and tourists alike. Check out our night time guide to find your very own Lisbon scene…
